China!

So, I assume that you've all already heard about China 2007 in an email from Debby, but in case you haven't, here's the link -- China Info

Enjoy!

(I'm convinced that spare change might get me to China!)

"Mark the Music"

Hello Tour Buddies!

I have just returned from the fabulous South Hadley where I saw quite a few of you singing at Cathy's last concert and attending the celebration dinner in good old Buckland. It was very fun to see you all and we missed those who weren't there! I just couldn't resist blogging, so here are some photos...

The weather was perfect... here's a photo of Safford and Porter from in front of Abbey Chapel that I took on Friday afternoon.

Next is a photo from Friday evening's rehearsal in the Chapel. We were sitting in the audience pews by voice part and Cathy was conducting from the stage extension.

More from Friday's rehearsal - but this time we're on the risers, all 200 of us, undergraduates and alumnae.

Last but not least, a shot from after Saturday's dinner... someone found her "Long Bright" in her closet and brought it along to model it for us! Whoa polyester -- the color is truly amazing. She is surrounded by women who also wore that costume. (And check out the crazy wallpaper in the Buckland dining hall -- it's good to see that some things never change.)

Enjoy!

FYI to all in the MHC or Boston area --

Updated concert information for the Boston Vespers Concert has been posted in the sidebar. Tickets are $25 general admission and I believe that the money goes toward a scholarship fund. (Limited view seating $15.)

It's a Small World

My mom met Suzanne! She (mom) lives across the street from a house that Suzanne is selling in her career as a real estate agent. How wild is that?

In other news, I start teaching in a little over a week. I'm not ready yet -- more vacation please! Of the variety with lots of fun/funny Mount Holyoke women (and their traveling companions) would be best...

Picnic Wedding

Hi there,
Some people had asked that I post photos of our wedding on August 5th, and we just got some from our friends who attended. The ceremony was at Holiday Hill, a picnic place. You can see a bit of the pool below the balcony. The florist decorated with a garland of laurel and mixed greens. Our friend Mike performed the ceremony, my friend Kristen was best woman, John's cousin David was best man.

John's family: dad Mike, mom Mary, brother Mike, sister-in-law Kerry

My family: dad Lenny, mom Nancy

Mary bought us a chocolate fountain! This and the ice cream truck were a big hit! We also had canoeing, mini-golf, bingo and of course, dancing.

Words of wisdom for those who are getting married: take time to eat! Also, expect the photos to take forever and that it will be very hard to talk to everyone. We had breakfast the next day to talk to our out of town friends! We had a great time though. Then we went to Block Island for a few days of bike riding and beach fun.

CD in the Mail!

Hi all -
Hope you have been having a restful summer - though it sounds like many have been off on further adventures and events - hard to find time to stand still.

I was excited to receive our CD in the mail - fun to hear the differences in performances. Caroline Rose still makes requests to sing to the "women's choir CD" - her requests change with her mood - from Deep River to the counting song to the National Anthem...

My small church choir sent a letter announcing the start of the season in September - will be good to sing again. We will be teaming up with another choir in November for the Faure Requiem - does anyone know it? Was it thrilling/challenging/a nightmare to sing? I have a feeling there will be more car rehearsals in my future...

Thanks again for a most wonderful time together - I hope that our paths cross again soon - if you are in the Twin Cities, please give me a holler...
